June 25, 2006: A special DTP welcome to the latest member of the family - Andrew Thompson - who will be rocking the tenor sax and displaying his ninja skills with the band. ***** April 17, 2006: Wow, we need to update the news more often. We've been playing some kick butt shows the last months, including Skankin' Richard's birthday, Philly Skafest '06 at the Troc, the Rotunda, and, sadly, No Damn Problem's final show (Goodbye *SNIFF*). Many thanks to anyone who has seen us since... uh... November (we really have to update the news more often). While it is not much of a secret anymore, Drive-Thru Pharmacy has been in the studio recording a full length album since December! The rythem section is finished, and we are working our way through the horns and vocals now. The new album will contain eight previously unreleased songs, most of which you have been hearing at shows over the last year and half, including "The Imp Song", "The Voyage of Capn' Kidd (Aka, The Pirate Song)", "Zip The What-Is-It", "Hindenburg", "Ong's Hat", and "Joe Mulliner", and some you haven't heard yet! No idea when this will be finished, so yell at any band members you see to finish recording their parts... We area also sad to announce that, for personal reasons, Kate and the band have parted ways. Kate was a big part of this band for three years, never missing a show and always quick to do stupid dances, scream, or shake hands with the audience, as well as help out behind-the-scenes. She is already missed, and we wish her luck in wherever life may take her. ***** November 9, 2005: Firstly, I would like to thank all those who rocked out Ska Mom's Birthday, it was a blast (and the cake was full of sugar). Special thank you to Mr. Thibault for rocking the bass (and guitar), as well as to our guest Mr. Brandon on the guitar for Joe Mulliner, and of course, the bands (Rikki Tikki Tavi, Pyscho Physics, No Damn Problem, and High School Football Heroes). Highlights include two absurd versions of "Happy Birthday to You" (including a group pile on version during NDP's set), Ray cracking his head on a roof beam, Bickerson's bass debut, Adam Thibault guitar solo, the man in the pit (Skankin' Richard!), and, of course, Larry's first show! Woo! For those that were at the show, you may have noticed the band was lacking in guitar players. This is because last week, after nearly a year, Mr. Danny G and the band parted ways so that Danny may continue to pursue his goal of being "The Voice of Philadelphia". You can listen to him several times a week on Temple's Jazz Station, just call him up and say hello, he'll be happy to hear from you. Bison will be sorely missed, but we wish him the best of luck! FREE show coming up this Sunday night in Magnolia, all ages, hope to see you all there! ***** October 31, 2005: For those that missed it, Skalloween the other night was just plain ridiculous! A witch, Dave Rossi, a pair of pirates, Bickerson, an asian master, Indiana Jones, and Ric Flair... and that was just our costumes! It was a very special welcome home for clarinetist Gian Chung in his first truly local show in who knows how many years (3?), and he would like everyone to know that's it really creepy that everyone knows who he is. We also had special guest Rob "Ric Flair" Wilcox come rock the stage with us as only he can, and all that I can say is Teebs, Brian, and Rob are a deadly, deadly combination on the stage. All the other bands were awesome, every set was quality (and No Regrets played old songs!), although SGR sadly was dropped from the bill at the last minute due to Skouf being an outlaw. Many thanks to all our good friends that came out that we haven't seen in a long time (waaaay too many to list!), to Rob for playing and being Ric Flair, Thibault for helping with the sound, all the bands for rocking, NR for having us play, and to all those who came out to have a good time! Next show is next Sunday, it's Ska Mom's Birthday show! Woo! DTP also has some other important news, we'd like everyone to welcome the newest member of the DTP family, Larry! Larry, 27, is a totally awesome guy who enjoys music and being tortured by the various Philadelphia sports franchises. He will be rocking the alto sax for us, so go say hi to him and discuss the new NHL rule changes at a show sometime! ***** September 7, 2005: One word: STICKERS!!! ***** August 28, 2005: Firstly, thanks to all those who came out to Whisky Dix last Sunday, it was a really fun show (any show with a mounted moose head next to the stage is a good show!). We got to play with some great bands (Long Shot Hero, Taj Motel Trio, and Biocoganna, check them all out!), and it was a great way to end the summer for us! Major thanks to Adam Thibault for helping us out on the guitar (no thanks to traffic court dates), to Pat Whalen and Eddie Tsang for rocking out with the band when we dug up "Swingmeister", to Mr. Dave Rossi (of SGR, of course) for letting us play the show, and to the sound guy for not only avoiding the fetal position when he saw the ridiculous amount of instruments he had to deal with, but for doing a really good mix in the process!. For those that have seen us at the last couple of shows, you may have noticed that we've pulled out another new song, "The Hindenburg", which is about that ill-fated Nazi airship of the '30s, and we've got a couple more new ones in the pipeline, which we hope to have ready soon! Next show coming up in September 10th at the Rail in Bound Brook, NJ. Also, good luck to our long-ago sax player Mr. Adam "Jewboy" Wellen as he dodges the hurricane down in New Orleans. July 24, 2005: First off, thank you to anyone who came out to see us at Grace a few weeks back, or in New Brunswick this weekend, two wild shows including a reunion of the infamous Cherry Tarts and a farewell to Jesse Mug, who is moving to Florida. Our apologies for the shortened sets at both, but a show has to end when a show has to end! Anyway, the show at Grace was a blast, with sets from a lot of great punk bands, including the Ray Gradys (go Marmero!) and The Ghouls! As noted above, this also saw the one song ("Not Good Enough") reunion of the Cherry Tarts, the old ska band from Moorestown that had not been together in three years (good luck in California Michelle!), featuring Michelle, Thibault, Crites, Bickerson, Mike "#3" Inzinna, and Block (we missed you Pete & Gison!). We also would like to offer our sincere thanks to Griffin, the only Boy Scout to appear on Boy Scout Appreciation Night at Grace Church! We appreciate you! Thanks to Sam and Dave the Jew for this one, it was fun! The show in New Brunswick was also fun, despite the confines of a cramped basement with no windows or AC. Lots of great bands, the Miasmics, the Mafia, and The Flaming Tsunamis (catch them on tour this instant!), lots of lack of shirts, the return of Brian & Teebs from vacation, and one massive sweat stain on the wall from Ray's back while drumming. We even pulled out a new song, Zip - The What Is It?, about a pinhead who toured with the circus for 67 years. Thank you to Gallagher for having us up his house, to all the bands that played, to those crazy enough to stand inside, and to the neighbors for not calling the cops! We also have some sad news, as Drive-Thru Pharmacy must announce that keyboardist Zac Minck has decided to leave the band. Good luck Zac in whereever life takes you. ***** July 3, 2005: Last week was a great week, as we had three shows! Woo! Friday, we got to play a graduation party for *cough cough cough* at Matt's house in Marlton, which was in no way a cover story to have a punk rock show. That show was completely awesome, as we got to play with our old friends the Venereal Exchange (guest featuring Rich on the bass) and The New Minority (thanks for plugging me back in Hatter!). We also met some awesome new bands, such as the Assistant Principals and those guys from Canada with the really big amps. We had a really short, energy packed set due to cop related activities, but it was worth it just to see the happy look on Danny G's face as he cooked things on the grill. Show two was Saturday at one of our favorite places of all time, the American Jubilee in South Philly. International Orange, who we played with up in Brick opened up with a good set. Then came the insanity that is No Damn Problem, made even better by Will filling in for them on trombone the entire set, despite having never practiced with them. We played after that, with highlights of the show being a really disgusting amount of sweat from each band member (and Block wasn't even there!), Greg playing Swingmeister on an instrument he never touches (sax), a cover of "Jock Party" in celebration of Tony Day's 100th show with No Regrets (guest starring Pat Whalen and most of No Regrets, and don't let them tell you differently), Ray killing himself by falling off a window sill, Rob Wilcox joining the band on guitar for Spanish is Special and Surf Boys, Teebs keeping Danny dodging by thrashing the entire show, and Brian not electricuting himself this time around! Closing the show was the head dirts themselves, No Regrets, who really should play shows exclusively in rooms with padded walls. Highlight of the set by far was the playing of the Whale Song, "Why Won't You Die and Fall Into a Dumpster?", possibly the best song that the band ever wrote. Afterwards, we celebrated by going to Tony Day's house, eating pizza, and watching Critters. Rocky likes to give kisses on the mouth, it's really terrible. The final show came on Tuesday back up at the Herbertsville Fire Co in Brick, NJ, courtasy of Rob of Upper Hand. With Adam helping us out on the bass for the vacationing Brian, we played a typically DTP set with Mike breaking his first guitar string ever during Swingmeister (thank you mystery kid who lent us a guitar!), lots of people having us yell in their face, Ray not falling off any window ledges, hooking, and as always, the stupid air guitar part at the end of the set, with some people in the parking lot getting snuck really good! While I missed the bands before us (thank you work), after us came At All Costs (formerly Ted K and the Mad Bombers) from Conneticutt (or a state that looks much like that), who thrash like no one's bussiness, and Bomb the Music Industry, who somehow have managed to comeup with a stage show stranger than ours. Thanks this weekend to those that set up the shows (Brad, Matt, Tony, GOOTCH, and Rob!), Adam for helping out on Tuesday, to those who guested with us on stage (Rich, Greg, Whalen, Wilcox, most of NR), to those that lent us equipment (especially mystery kid and Greg!), and to all those that ran around and had a good time at any of the shows! SIDE NOTE: Rob Wilcox is the biggest winner of all time. Ask him about his special day hanging out with the Aquabats, ending with him on stage with them! Amazing... ***** June 19, 2005: Friday was a special day, as it was the day that, after seven years of bandhood, Drive-Thru Pharmacy finally and indesputably played North Jersey (we were informed that Lawrenceville and Seaside Heights do not count as North Jersey). It was for an excellent cause too, raising money to help support the Agape Soup Kitchen in Elizabeth, NJ! Lots of great bands, lots of great music (including THE FUNK!), lots of great tricks, No Regrets 100th show (100th show!!!), and lots of great, new people. Yes, we did let our South Jersey hick flag fly. And yes, North Jersey people are decent folk, even if they do like Devils! Thank you to Brendan for setting up and running the entire affair (you are getting many bonus points for that good deed, I'm sure), all the bands that rocked out with us (Biz, Offbeat in Suburbia, The Mafia, Inspector Hector, No Regrets, The Interceptors, and SGR), the dirts that followed us up to the North, Kate's ignition for changing its mind about not working, ducks for being in the pond, anyone who talked to us during the show, and most especially to everyone who watched us/danced to us. No thank you to stages that collapse! Darn you stage! In conclusion, North Jersey was a blast, and I'm sure we'll be back in less time than seven years! ***** June 4, 2005: At long last, DTP rocked the living room of the 1619 House last night. It was a fun show, as only a show run by Alan in his living room could be. Thankfully, some of the band was missing, or else we never would have fit, but we had a great time playing! Highlights of the night consist mainly of Ray - kicking his drum seat over and playing standing up, running into people while playing, falling over into the drumset to end the night. It's always Ray, isn't it? Also playing was Fatter Than Albert (a really great band from down New Orleans), Cash In, and No Regrets, who all played great! Unfortunately, Kevin's amp crashed during the NR set and cut their playing time down to two songs, but the world got to heard Crites sing about shaving a dog, which made things ?better?... ***** May 22, 2005: Bunnies + Lots of great bands + guy in bunny suit + lots of crazy audience members = The Bunny Benefit VI! The show last night went off without a hitch, we made some new friends and had some great times. Where can we even start? Stellar rocked out and brought along a guy in a bunny costume (if anyone has a picture, PLEASE send a copy). The Gnome Liberators came in and played a great set (despite a few members hiding on a school trip) complete with song from that commercial that I can never remember what is being advertised. Cooler Than Kip drove in from the shore area to rock the house (oh so jealous of their saxamaphones section). Gay Ray stayed a perfect gentleman in his stripped down set. The Skautopsies kicked some major butt, as they always do, and got the crowd going crazy. The Hootenanny were terrible and should never perform again. The Black Anchors played their usual rock n roll stuff (Phil Specter, who the heck plays Phil Specter!?) and then brought up Tony and eight guest horns to play the old Short Arms' standards Why Does My Mom?, Baseball Song, and Spy Song. Out of Service rocked out as hard as they ever do, with Teebs, Brian, and Mike thrashing around like madmen, and the crowd digging their ode to Perkins Family Restaurants. Our set was as ridiculous as it ever was. Swingmeister saw a twelve to fifteen piece horn section (we're still trying to figure it out) featuring our friends in the Gnome Liberators, Cooler Than Kip, and the Skautopsies. The entire set featured our newest member Mike Capuano, (famous for his roles in Eastern High School musicals, as vocalist for Out of Service, and for being frickin' MacGyver) on the tuba. Yes, a tuba. Actually, a thrashing, spinning tuba. Do not question the tuba. Brian and Teebs thrashed around like it was their job, the horns did terrible dances, Bill jumped back and forth alot, hooks were done in the air, double guitar solos were played. the audience ran around like a bunch of escaped inmates... all in all, a great night. In the end, we raffled off Teebs, Ray, Bill, and Danny for charity... date reports are pending... The list of thank yous is nearly endless. On behalf of the band and the Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue, we extend massive thank yous to Mrs. Spina over at Voorhees CER for allowing the show to go on; the staff for opening up the place, locking up, and checking in on things; the Block, McCormick, and McGovern families for chaperoning the night at the last minute; Stellar, The Gnome Liberators, Gay Ray, Cooler Than Kip, The Skautopsies, The Hootenanny, Black Anchors, and Out of Service for devoting their time, talent, and equipment to help us raise money; and to the devoted crowd that kept things fun and crazy all night and still helped pick up trash at the end of the night. Not speaking as the band for a moment, I (Mike) would also like all the members of Drive-Thru Pharmacy, as well as Jenny and Matt, who worked very hard keeping the show running smoothly. It wouldn't have worked if it was not for them, so thank you all! Final word: $714 raised for the Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue. That money will be used to spay the remaining unfixed rabbits (an unrealized goal in the works since 2001!), to buy food and litter, and to help pay off some the debt that is owed the vet's offices for medical services. ***** May 17, 2005: Firstly, many, many apologies to anyone who showed up at Lenape High School on Friday night expecting there to be a show. The kid running the event was told the morning of the show that it was canceled by the administration, a wonderful thing to do to a student who is trying to help raise money for his school. We sent out e-mails and called people as soon as we could, but the afternoon of the show is a tough time to let people know that there is no show. Grrr... Despite the setback at Lenape, this was a great weekend! Thanks to the magic of Tony Day and his head fin, we were added last minute to the show Friday night at Grace Church in Haddonfield. Despite some prom related absences, Mr. Zach Crites (Yes, CRITES) came out of the woodwork to fill in at the show, with his terrible chicken moves, kicking of iced tea bottled, and all around critesness. Pandemonium ensued, and it was hilarious. The other bands were great too, the piratey Hello Cantelope from West Virginia, the Distorted Penguins from Maryland, eight frickin' horns No Regrets, and, of course, the mighty mighty SGR. It wouldn't be a DTP show without us helping ruin some other bands sets of course...
Saturday night saw us a last minute addition to another fantastic show, the Emancipation Rocklamation IV, a show at Moorestown Friends in Moorestown that helps raise money to free those in slavery all over the world. Opening up was our mateys, No Damn Problem, who rocked it as only a pirate-core band can. Then there was The Skataupsies, who despite my inability to remember how to spell their name were even better this time than a few weeks ago in Haddonfield! At this rate, they'll be as good as Motley Crue by the show this weekend. Then came the ever great Too Short Notice, visiting South Jersey from the Northlands (meaning North Jersey)! We hadn't played with them in years, but they put on a great show as they always do! Our set perhaps managed to top the night before in absurdity, with the rude squirrel Adam Thibault graciasly and expertly playing the bass guitar for us. So what happened? Well, there was Ray enjoying every minute of being elevated, taking the opportunity to hang from the basketball rim and nearly killing himself; Greg, Don, and Rich invading the stage during our pirate song (and lots more "Hook! Hook! Hook!". Rich and crew love the hook!); fan-o-vision featuring Kate, Block, and T-bo; Bill sliding accross the floor on air guitar; and lots of other terrible dances and tricks. For the second night in a row, it was SGR closing the show, the band who must own the loudest amps ever. Everyone went crazy for them (including multiple flying walls o' death), and it's a miracle the gym didn't collapse right down on everyone's heads! The night ended with everyone up on the stage for V-Town... Just too many people to thank for this weekend. First and foremost, thank you to Kevin at Lenape, Mr. Tony Day of No Regrets, and the 10,000 people running things over at Moorestown Friends for having us this weekend. I heard some of the people at Moorestown saying that they raised over $4000 this year, which is quite a good job by them! Next major thank yous go to Crites and Thibault for helping us out big time this weekend when the regulars went off to prom, you guys are the best (we need that Cherry Tart reunion!). Many thanks to all seven bands this weekend, there were some amazing sets turned in (and eight horns. WHY!? WHY!? Plus, Weekend of Rich!). Lastly, thanks to everyone who watched us in Haddonfield, Moorestown, or both, plus five to each and everyone of you. Finally, minus five to Tony for that frontal fin. ***** April 27, 2005: Oh man, two last minute shows last weekend. Friday night saw the band traveling up to the Herbertsville Fire Hall in lovely Brick, NJ to play with Mikey and the Migraines, Drive-Thru Pharmacy, Inspector Hector, Upper Hand, International Orange, and our good friends No Damn Problem! Oh what fun it is to drive when roads are shut down all over the state! Despite a longer than anticipated commute, we made it to Brick in plenty of time. With the help of Adam Thibault on the bass and Rob "Dirt Man" Wilcox on the guitar, we rocked out pretty hard, including some mighty nice hooking with NDP. All the other bands were great, no one seemed to mind Ray acting like Ray or the flying walls of death that floated about throughout the evening. Saturday night found us at Grace Church in Haddonfield, a last second addition to a show featuring The Skataupsies, Red Plaid Menace, Daly's Last Stand, and the always amazing Ruder Than You! Adam again helped us out on the bass guitar (Darn you junior prom!) and Rob Wilcox again guest starred on the gee-tar. The night featured some excellent moments, such as Rob reenacting key moments of the Jersey Devil scare of 1909 while perched on top of a speaker, chants of hook hook hook for the pirate song (even when Rich isn't there, his madness lives on!), and the completely unnecessary FOUR GUITAR lineup of the band. The rest of the bands were great too. Major gold stars to the Skautopsies for being awesome- from Moorstown, check them out-, to Red Plaid Menace for the craziest show I ever saw from them, and to Ruder Than You for playing better than I've ever seen them play (and that's saying alot). Gold stars to the drummer from Daly's Last Stand, who is Mets fan, no stars to the rest, who like the Yankees (they were good despite their evil allegience). Far too many thanks to go around this weekend, many apologies if we forget anyone. Major thanks to Rob from Upper Hand and to Spanish Phil for allowing us to play such kickin' shows. Major thanks to Christian who no longer works at Super G and to Greg from No Damn Problem for helping us with basses and bass amps, with no thanks going to screws that fall out of perfectly decent basses, like ours. Thanks to all the bands we played with for being cool people (especially if they had a guitarist wearing an old school Phillies hat). Thanks to the bums who followed us around all weekend (Brad, Marissa, Jesse, and the rest of yous). Thanks to all of you who danced around and made this weekend great. Biggest thanks of all to Mr. Adam Thibault and Mr. Rob Wilcox for playing bass and guitar with us this weekend! ***** April 3, 2005: Crazy, crazy, crazy show last night in South Philly at the American Jubilee. Started off with everyone wandering aimlessly through the stadium/cargo district of South Philly (darn you yahoo maps!) in the pouring rain. Block did an excellent job of blowing his tire on a curb (go Block!), and Kate and Zac did an excellent job of going into hypothernia due to rain, cold, and the building being locked up. Things sorted themselves out eventually, thanks to Gooch's air pump and the magic of several hours in a car with the heater on. Some great music before us from Metro, Walk Like Ghosts, and Jerkface. Our set was fun, we started with a good trick by opening with a cover of "House of the Rising Sun", followed by Rocky's Speech to the Commies in Rocky IV, which got everyone way too pumped up and led to way-too-fast-Swingmeister. The rest of the set was a blast, an insane audience, Brian getting electricuted by his bass amp and having signs fall on him, Teebs thrashing like a madman, Bill getting sloppy drunk on stage, Ray jumping from windowsills, air guitar solos from bar stools, Will avoiding drunks attempting to put beer cans in his trombone, Kate fighting off drunks attempting to put beer cans in Will's trombone, Rob & Brockner making weird screams, terrible harmonica covers of the Dead Kennedys during guitar tuning time... every show ever should be like this one! After us, of course, was the wild and crazy No Regrets, who thrashed around like a bunch of dirts while the audience went nuts. Anyway, thanks to everyone who came out to the show, it was fun! Thank you to all the bands, to No Regrets for hooking us up (go see them April 17 at the Troc!), to Gooch and the American Jubilee for being so cool, and, of course, to electricity for keeping Brian on his toes ***** March 29, 2005: With a plus five to the amazing Mr. Gian Chung, Clarineter Extroidinare (or a word much like that), www.drivethrupharmacy.com is finally up and running. You shoulda seen how many guys we had to bribe to get this thing up and running! Lots of page updates in process as the page gets moved over from brinkster, and some pictures and links will surely not work right away, as computers hate me. But in good news, awesome show this Saturday at the American Jubilee! Everyone try to make it out, this place is looking to host a regular ska night, and the more people show up, the more they'll like the idea! ***** March 21, 2005: Oh man, what a show at the First Baptist the other night. First and foremost, much respect to Brad for setting up the show for such a great cause. Secondly, major thanks to all the people who showed up to make the Cancer Benefit Show for Josh Osbourne and the Cancer Aide and Research Fund such a great sucess. There were a lot of other shows that night, but there was a great crowd in Haddonfield, and over $550 was raised! Show wise, things were rocking all night. Some great sets were turned in by the Zipper Kids, The Venereal Exchange (first show, and a good one!), No Damn Problem, The Ugly Mugs, Troubled Youth, and The New Minority. I know Ray made a lot of new friends. It may have been a long night by the time we got on the stage, but you wouldn't have known it from the crowd, who were crazy from start to finish. We brought back Master Adventure Man for the first time in ages, which was fun. It was also a night of firsts, as our new trombone player Will Daley rocked with the band for the first time, and we debuted a new song, Joe Mulliner, written by our own Ray Solowij. Major thanks to Brad for setting the whole thing up, to Adam for filling in on bass with his foreward baseball cap, to NDP for lending us the bass equipment, to Rich for being Rich, and to all the people who came out and rocked out! No thanks whatsoever to last second jazz band competitions that steal Teebs and Brian from us, nor to camping classes that locate Kate out in Wharton State Forest instead of on stage. Next show is in two short weeks at American Jubilee in Philly with Walk Like Ghosts and our comrades in suffering over the loss of the hockey season No Regrets, with some more bands TBA! You'll want to make it to this one, as No Regrets in coming off their whirlwind tour of the eastern half of the USA and should be in fine form! ***** March 2, 2005: The show on Sunday at Doc Watson's was great, we all had a blast. In fact, in many cultures Ray would now be legally married to Andrew of Without Parachute! That's just the type of show that it was! Many special mentions could be made, but special mention of the night has to go to Michael Block for taking a four hour bus ride from Penn State, rocking out, and then driving four hours home. What a nut! Many thanks to Theresa and Without Parachute for getting us the gig, Out of Service and Nova for rocking out, the sound lady for refraining from killing us, free Sunday parking, and the people who watched us/rocked out to us! For those of you that missed out, we've got some other shows in the works. First one up is Friday, March 18 at the First Baptist Church in Haddonfield. This is looking to be a quality lineup, so everyone clear off your calanders now! ***** February 20, 2005: Got a show coming up next Sunday, February 27, at Doc Watson's in Philly. We haven't played Philly in many years, so we're looking foreward to melting some faces! With any luck, we'll have another new song for y'all. It's all ages, only $6, and we're on at 5 o'clock. Come on out and bring your air guitars! Much thanks to Without Parachute for putting us on this one! ***** February 4, 2005: It was a mere seven years ago that a bunch of kids gathered into Pete's basement, cleared out a small space for the instruments, and held the first practice of the band SPOON! (we played Happy Bug). A few months later, SPOON! became Drive-Thru Pharmacy thanks to a band from Austin, Texas beating us to the punch. We've had a lot of people come through and a lot of good times since those days, playing from Philly to Seaside Heights at bars, birthdays, churches, VFWs, garages, backyards, parks, record stores, township picnics, and colleges. Drive-Thru Pharmacy has seen Ray car surf, had rain soak our equipment (it's good for it I hear), invaded the Voorhees Middle School, attacked people with instruments (more times than anyone can remember), had Gian dive off of a six foot high stage, raised some money for some good causes (oh bunnies...), started fires on the Whalen's lawn, let Crites play bass (oh man), and who knows what else... Anyway, in celebration of this terrible plague on mankind, we've put up a demo we recorded of "The Imp Song" in mp3 format for everyone to listen to on our myspace thingamahoosit (http://www.myspace.com/drivethrupharmacy). This is a song about the Jersey Devil will appear on our next album, which we start recording next month. For the record the Jersey Devil is not, despite what you may have heard, a hockey player. That's because hockey players are mythical beasts that do not exhist. SPECIAL CONTEST: As a special contest for those that look at the page, the person who e-mails us in the next week with a list containing those members present at the very first DTP practice will get one of our few remaining t-shirts (mediums only) or, when we get them, one of the new t-shirts being designed by Mr. Whalen. Whoever has the most correct members is the winner. Just e-mail drivethrupharmacy@hotmail.com ***** January 2, 2004: The band would like to welcome our newest member, Dan Gutierrez, who will be rocking out on the guitar for us. That's right, Drive-Thru Pharmacy will be sporting three guitar players. Why? Because it's three guitar players. Sheesh ***** December 27, 2004: Many thanks to all who came out to the Holiday show last Saturday, it was great to rock out again! We ended up playing two new songs, "The Voyage of Capn' Kidd" and "Ong's Hat", hooray for new songs! It was the breaking in show for our new members, Teebs on guitar, Brian on bass, and Zac on the keys, who all did great and who all probably had severe neck cramps the next morning. We're going to be adding some new members, some new songs, and some new horn section dance moves in the next few weeks. Fun!. Many thanks to Short Arms/Black Anchors, Red Plaid Menace (Steve looks good in that sailor cap), No On 15, and especially No Regrets, who set the whole thing up and hated our Christmas presents to them. No thanks whatsoever to Gay Ray & the Straights and their terrible Christmas song. Thanks also to Ireland for filming us, to Eric for the cord for the PA, to Brockner for playing with us, and most especially to everyone who came out to the show. Next show at the moment is the Bunny Benefit VI set for early February.
***** December 1, 2004: We've been working and we've finally got a chance to bring the rock n roll out on December 18 in Haddonfield. We've got at least one brand new one for ya, I hope everyone likes pirates! ***** August 31, 2004: New shows coming up. DTP is ready to rock out again! ***** Monday, July 12, 2004: Well, the band is finally no more... ha! That's a good one! Actually, we've got our new lineup working together to bring you the rock n roll you crave. There are some new faces around, and alot of ones you wish would go away. We've even been working to bring a new tune or two to our next gig. In addition to band related stuff, the new webpage, located conviently at www.drivethrupharmacy.com, is nearly here! Go Gian go! ***** Tuesday, February 18, 2004: Thanks to everyone for coming out to the show last week, it rocked pretty hard! Extra thanks to Short Arms for inviting us to play and for lending us crap... However, not all news on the DTP front is happy. We are sad to announce that guitarist Adam Thibault and bassist Fil "Fil" Pratt have left the band for brighter pastures. Many thanks to Fil for "fil"ing in (ha!) on bass for us, who you can, of course, still catch Fil in his rock n roll powerhouse Duck Island. Even more thanks due to Adam, who gave us the best years of his life in persuit of rock n roll and terrible outfits at shows. I'm sure he'll reappear soon enough somewhere in the scene... Expect some more news from the band pretty soon, such as Gian's latest fashion tips... ***** Wednesday, January 28, 2004: Alright, enough with the snow and ice already... To start, we've got a great show next week on Saturday, February 7 in Bellmawr with Short Arms, No Regrets, and a bunch of other cool cats. This is going to be our last show for a while, as the band is going through some changes, so come on out and have your hearts warmed by a cool island song. As some may have noticed, the webpage is being changed around quite a bit, which should be done fairly soon, and drivethrupharmacy.com should be operational soon! Hooray! When it is, everyone give Gian a giant high five for figuring out the maze that is the online world. Hope to see y'all next week!
***** Monday, December 22, 2003: Wow, this hasn't been updated in a while. To start, thanks to all the folks that made our fifth aniversary show such a blast last month. Special thanks to Bomb Town, Out of Service, Duck Island, and Short Arms. Extra special thanks to No Regrets for helping us with the show, for playing such terrible songs as Mod Squad, and for the MC Hammer videocassette. Medal of Rockin' to Mike Kappler for get his face all smashed up and still not sitting out! There should be some more news soon... ***** Sunday, November 1, 2003: News news news news news... firstly, we have a new show coming up on November 22 to celebrate the five years since we played our first show! The show has a great lineup including No Regrets, Short Arms, Duck Island, Out of Service, plus one more! Check the shows page for more info... Also, parts of the webpage might be unavailable, as we are working on a new webpage (meaning, it should be up by 2008). That's about it for now... ***** Monday, October 27, 2003: Well, the show on Friday night was pretty rockin'! It was a shame that Regatta 69 had to cancel out, but we still got to rock out with some great bands like "We're Not the Break of Day", It's Turbo Time, Bomb Town, and No Regrets! Congrats are in order to the latest Andy of No Regrets for his great first show! Many thanks to all the bands, to the church for having us, to No Regrets for setting the show up, to Brockner for rocking out with us, and, of course, to bunny rabbits!
***** Sunday, October 12, 2003: What can I even say? We just played a show with RUDER THAN YOU! Oh wait, I got it. Happy birthday Tony! Anyway, the show last night was great! Kid Charlemen and Broken Values rocked out. Down n Out brought it for the last time (*sniff*). Break of Day was great, Ruder Than You was amazing, and No Regrets rocked out hard! Thanks to Tony & NR for having the show, to all the bands, to everyone who came out, to Pat Whalen for not killing anyone, to all the folks that watched us, yelled at us, sang with us, and to BUNNY RABBITS for having cute wiggly noses! Next show is in two week on Friday, October 24 with Regatta 69, No Regrets, and more! It's gonna be another good one! ***** October 1, 2003: Wow, the show Saturday was amazing! Every single band rocked out like crazy, definately one of the best local shows in a while! However, there was a tinge of sadness in the air, as we all were there to say farewell to the legendary Zach Crites of No Regrets, who is r-u-n-n o-f-t to college in California. For those that don't know him, Zach is one of the coolest guys around, as well as the best damn egg shaker player DTP has ever had. He'll be sorely missed, at least until winter break when we catch him and lock him up in Adam's basement so that he can't leave Jersey anymore. See ya around Crites, give out some neck punches for us out in sunny Cali.
Thanks to Darkside for the great show, to all the bands for everything, to cops for protecting the dangerous parking lots of Collingswood, to the amazing crowd, and to BUNNY RABBITS!
***** September 6, 2003: Hooray, we have a new show set for September 27 with the likes of SGR and No Regrets. It's a local one in Haddonfield, so there will be a maximium amount of rocking out. Rock! ***** Wednesday, September 3, 2003: The show at Cafe Society the other week was... um interesting. We had fun, all things considering. We are also happy to report that we have now reached our lifetime alotment of seeing fourteen year olds grind (it was as disturbing a sight as we've seen in many a year as a band). However the show marked the first for Steve and young Fil, who both rocked out like there was no tommorow. We have to thank Out of Service for having us rock out with them, to the people who watched us, and, as always, to bunny rabbits! ***** Wednesday, August 13, 2003: Well, we had a great show on Friday night out in Woodstown. Why? Because GIAN CAME BACK! Hooray for Gian! And Chini played! Hooray for Chini! Just rocking out with those two again made for a great show! ***** Saturday, August 2, 2003: It was two weeks ago, but the Bunny Benefit V was a rousing success! We raised over $350 for those cute little hippity hops with our night of rock at the Voorhees Middle School. Huge, huge thanks to The Scandals, Skippy and the Lovemakers, Duck Island, Hatterus, Out of Service, and Short Arms for playing. Major thanks also to Gary for allowing us to have the whole shindig, to Mr. Thompson for keeping an eye on us kids, to Joe for the speaker cable, to everyone who helped out with the show, to each and every person who came on out, and of course, to bunny rabbits! Also, major DTP thanks to Tom for again filling in on the bass guitar for us! There should be more bunny benefits coming up in the near future... DTP also played a spur-of-the-moment set Wednesday at Olde City Billiards. It was a lot of fun, even if we were short a couple of members. Thanks to those who watched us, to Duck Island for not killing us/for letting us use their stuff, to all the bands (Knife Fight, The Deathwish, Torn Between, Duck Island, Farcial Hoodwink), and, of course, to BUNNIES! You just cannot thank bunnies enough... ***** Saturday, July 12, 2003: Well, it's been a while, but it's time for some very sad news for DTP. Our beloved hat-wearing, vegtable eating bass player Mr. Mike Chini left the band this past week to spend more time destroying the squirrels of the world, among other things, before he leaves for college at the end of August. Mike spent over a year rocking with the band, and he will be sorely missed by all (even Ray). We sincerely hope that he knocks 'em dead in college (expecially if "'em" happens to be Tie Domi) and keeps on rockin'. We'll surely find another bassist, but we'll never have another Mike Chini... In other news, Ray has returned from Ireland with a whole new collection of really dumb catch phrases, which were put to use last night at a great show at Olde City Billiards in Marlton! We were bassless, but made up for it by hitting our heads on the hanging lamps no less than twenty times during our set. It was great! A ton of thanks to Rich for letting us play the show and not breaking our necks! And of course, major thanks go out to Temporarily Brooksless, Duck Island (thanks for the equipment), More Than An X, and Skippy and the Lovemakers, who all put on a great show! Olde City Billiards is a great place to play (except for the lamps), the owner is really nice, and hopefully there will be a lot more local gigs happening there in the future! No one forgot, NEXT SATURDAY is the Bunny Benefit V at the Voorhees Middle School! It is going to be a seriously awesome show, and we hope that everyone will come on out and support the bunnies! ***** Monday, June 23, 2003: Forgot! After a long drought, Drive-Thru Pharmacy again has t-shirts for sale! Two designs even! They cost $10 each and are available at shows or if you bug band members! We'll have a picture of them up soon. We also will have copies of "Somebody Call Gian: A Decade of Hits" again starting tommorow, for the same low price as usual of $5. That is all! ***** Sunday, June 22, 2003: Great show last night at Sam's house! Adam made a new friend, Tom got his groove on, Bill paid a kid a dollar, and we all learned how terrible Ray is at basketball. We're sorry that we could only play four songs for everyone, but we had a great time doing it! Thanks goes out to Sam for having all those people at his house, to Out of Service for setting the whole thing up, to all the bands (Last in Line, Swallow the Leader, NoWhere, Out of Service, Reno & the Turks, Duck Island), to Fil for lendin' us his amp, to the Collingswood dirts for comin' down to see us, and to all the kids that were rocking out at the show! And of course, major thanks to our good friend Tom "My Dad Has a Diner" Paliatsas of Short Arms for filling in on bass for us, everyone buy him a candy bar! The DTP show zamboni is coming a stop for a little while while Ray goes to Ireland to chase pots o' gold and the wee little folks, but we'll be back with a fury on July 11 when we rock out Marlton with Duck Island and Temporarily Brooksless! ***** June 15, 2003: Well, there was a problem at the No Regrets cd release show last night, but well get back to that... Overall, it was a cool show with some great sets turned in by some great bands. On the DTP front, Kate made her first appearance on melophone for the band and Art made his first DTP appearance ever on the alto sax, with both rocking out harder than Dave Shultz at a fight club meeting! We also debuted a new song, a rockin Adam Thibault piece that goes by the name of The Imp Song (at least for the moment), which everyone seemed to enjoy. Some major DTP thanks go out to all eight other bands (Soundcheck, Red Plaid Menace, Down n Out, Short Arms, Dirty Larry, the break of.day, Jersey Calling, and No Regrets), with extra special thanks to NR for setting the deal up and to DL and SA for lending us equipment! Seriously, everyone go buy No Regrets album Seven Letter Word For Kill, its great! Thanks are also due to Anna for filming the show for us, to all the folks that came out to see us (especially Whalen, Dave, and Gerry), to Brockner for rocking with us on Swingmeister, and of course, to the crowd, who were simply amazing. But putting away the hockey references and overuse of the word rock, I, Mike Bickerson, would like to hit a rare serious note for this band. I apologize in advance for its length. For those that may not know, an individual committed some terrible acts in the chapel of St Johns Lutheran Church, among them empting a full fire extinguisher all over the pews and alter. The police were notified and this person is being dealt with by them. I, for one, feel far sadder for than angry at the person who did this to such a beautiful church (I received my first communion there). Not only did this make a mess for a place nice enough to allow us to use their fellowship hall, it also cut short one of the final appearances of the full lineup of No Regrets, and perhaps worst of all, reflected terribly upon the local scene. Worst of all, it was one knuckle head in scores of kids who did it. I have been involved in the scene for eight years or so, almost five of them as a member of Drive-Thru Pharmacy, and Ive seen this happen far more times than I ever care to think about. However, last night was different from those other times. Last night, instead of getting angry and making things worse, people helped to make things better. Kids came forward with information on the individual who had messed up the church. Other kids volunteered to go home and get vacuum cleaners to help with the mess. In the end, about forty kids lugged rags around the chapel of St Johns, wiping down the pews, the walls, the floors, the carpets, the alter, and everything else covered in foam, while others cleaned the hall itself. There were kids there who probably never opened a hymnal, but were wiping them off. There were kids cleaning last night together that the day before would have sooner punched each other in the face than talk to each other. There were kids that usually cause problems working to help fix someone elses problem. What it all burns down to is that this scene doesnt belong to the bands or to the church halls. It belongs to all of you kids who come on out to the shows. When something went wrong last night, something you had nothing to do with, you took it upon yourselves to stand up and help take responsibility for that. Were just happy to be associated with that.
***** Monday, June 9, 2003: Week late and a dollar short... as usual! The show the other week at Full Circle was great, despite the fact that our horn section was harder to find than a quality television program on Fox. Thanks to our good friend John Brockner for helping us out! Also many thanks to Duck Island for rockin' and rollin' the night away, their new stuff is muy good-o. And of course, thanks to all of yous who came out for the rock show, and to Scott and Full Circle Records for having us! ***** Tuesday, May 27, 2003: Good news! Although Duck Island wasn't mentioned in the article, they are pictured (you can only see Fil, but he is the best looking one anyways) from the Bunny Benefit IV and mentioned in the caption! Hooray! We've got three new shows for August thanks to our friends the New Jackson170! Check out the very rock n roll summer they are setting up at the Woodstown Church by clicking here. Seriouly, they are working out six awesome shows, including one with the amazing Chromelodeon! ***** Thursday, May 22, 2003: Bad news, two shows are canceled. The first is the one for this Saturday, which fell through due to mother related activities. The other is that the Toasters show has been canceled for June 14. Hopefully we'll be playing with them in the Fall sometime though... No worries though, we're working on some more shows, including another Bunny Benefit (V!)! You can also catch us Saturday, May 31 at Full Circle Records with Duck Island. It should be a blast and a half! In other news, an article ran today in the Philadelphia Inquirer on the local youth music scene! Our good friends Dirty Larry, the break of day, No Regrets, and Jersey Calling are all mentioned (as well as Duck Island being mentioned in spirit). DTP was also listed in the article with some quotes from our own Billus McCall! However, I believe the best quote came from Rob Wilcox's mom... you can read the whole thing here! ***** Wednesday, April 30, 2003: Two new shows. On is May 24 with our good friend Duck Island and The Aceholes (can you say Chips a Oi?). The other is June 14 with none other than THE TOASTERS! It's a show you won't want to miss!!! Just see the shows page for more info! ***** Monday, April 28, 2003: Yea, yea, we ain't exactly Johnny-On-The-Spot with these updates! The server is kinda cruddy We're sorry that we keep overusing our bandwidth, (which is computer jargon for something or another that makes the page not work), but our resident team of crack DTProgrammer Monkeys is working day and night to fix that. Anyway, news! Firstly, many thanks to those who came out to see us Saturday in Sewell. We're very sorry for having to punk in out with a four piece band, but our bassist and horns had their car break down waaaay out it Pennsylvania. We still had fun, and we hope all of you did to! Thanks a ton to the guys in Coat Hanger Clinic for having us, to the Duck Island Warriors for letting us rock out on their stuff, and to the other bands (Friction Fraction, Broken Values) for rockin' and rollin'. No thanks at all to Park Police with attitudes and delusions of grandeur, or a word much like that. Also, some may have noticed on the members page that we have a new member... so let's all give a big DTP welcome to Kate Wolfrom! She'll be rockin' with the band on the Slayerphone... err melaphone. Feel free to say hi to her (and suggest she get her head examined for joining up)... Also, some may have noticed that DTP was recently interviewed in the April edition of the Good Food 'zine put out by Rachael Carrasquillo! Band members participating were Mike McCormick, Bill McCall, Adam Thibault, Mike Chini, Mike Gallagher, and the ever great Gian Chung. Please check it out, it's a dirt cheap price for a quality publication! Right now, our only gig coming up is May 31 at Full Circle Records. It's FREE and our mates Duck Island will be rockin' as well! OI! ***** Sunday, March 30, 2003: The show last Saturday (yea yea, we're kinda late updating) was great! Firstly, huge thanks to Kate, Brockner, and Rich for playing horns for the night, you folks rock! Also thanks to the good fellows from Red Plaid Menace who set up the show, to all the bands, to Anna for filming for us, to everyone who watched the band, and to bunnies! No thanks to the Eastern High School musical... ***** Sunday, March 16, 2003: We had another fun DTP show on Friday afternoon playing for a bunch of little kids at Kresson Elementry School. Shouldn't all shows be played for elementry school kids? ***** Monday, March 10, 2003: Well, we all had a great weekend, how about you? Friday night at Hope Church went great! Watching Scapegoat was an experience, Duck Island played their best set ever (aucustically too), and the Scandals not only rocked, but managed to make Dragon BallZ enjoyable! Even better, none other than Pete Milder (you remember him, the one with the hair) rocked out with the gang for the first time in months! Hooray! Many thanks to Hope Church for having us, to the Scandals for inviting us to play, to all the people at the show, and to ghetto juice, for being very tasty! Then Saturday night was the much anticipated Bunny Benefit IV at the Voorhees Middle School! Lunchbox Anthem was great, Duck Island was amazing, Short Arms was their usual selves (if you don't know their usual selves is, then you need to get out to a show to see them!), and Dirty Larry was more rockin' than my cat (who is pretty rockin')! We played pretty well with Zach Crites again filling in on bass for the stuck-at-work Mike Chini (darn you Sears!!!), and a good time seemed to have been had by all! We also learned that we'd better start saving a song for an encore. Whoops! Overall, we raised $447 for the Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue! Yay! Huge huge huge huge DTP thanks to Gary Lake and the good people at Voorhees CER for allowing this show to happen and helping it run so smoothly! Of course, we also need to give major thanks to Lunchbox Anthem, Duck Island, Short Arms, and Dirty Larry for coming out and rocking for such a good cause, with extra thanks to Dirty Larry for allowing everyone to use their PA! But the hugest thank you of them all goes to all yous folks who came on out to the show and made it such a success! Thank you thank you thank you! Hooray for bunnies! Thursday, March 6, 2003: Well, it's the weekend of two Voorhees shows, hooray! Come on out to Hope Church tommorow night at 7 o'clock, and the the Bunny Benefit IV at Voorhees Middle School Saturday night at 5:30 pm! Sadly, No Regrets has just pulled out of the bunny benefit due to Andy (send him hate mail), but Voorhees' own DUCK ISLAND will be playing the show with a PG rated set for probably the only time ever! This is something you won't want to miss! ***** Thursday, February 27, 2003: Hey folks! Two more shows coming up for the band! The first is courtasy of Ryan Kibby, and is a FREE show at Hope United Methodist Church in Voorhees, NJ with the Scandals, Scapegoat, and more on Friday, March 7! It should be rock n roll at it's finest, or at least it's loudest, and it's free! Hooray! Our other new show is Saturday, March 22 in Merchantville, NJ with our good buddies Short Arms and Dirty Larry, plus our dire enemies who we sincerely wish to punch in the neck, No Regrets, plus more bands! This is being billed as a ska fest, and what a ska fest it shall be! You don't want to miss this one! And, of course, we have the ever fun Bunny Benefit IV on Saturday, March 8 at the Voorhees Middle School! Hooray for bunnies! We have more info and directions and stuff for all these shows and (one) more on the shows section of the page!
***** Friday, February 14, 2003: Enjoy the special Valentine's Day edition of the site. ***** Sunday, February 9, 2003: Yay, another great show last night! Chester got sick, and Chini had to work, but Zach "Dirt" Crites stepped in to save the day for us by filling in on bass. Hooray! We played pretty well all things considering, and everyone seemed to have a good ol' time. Short Arms, Jersey Calling, and No Regrets all rocked out as well! Thank you to the bands, to Jersey Calling for the pa system, to John & Erin for taping the show, to Steve for the hugs, to the Day family for having such a great puppy (that sounds like a pig), to St Pauls, to Zach Crites for filling in, and expecially to bunny rabbits! Our next show is a month away, March 8 at the Voorhees Middle School. It's for bunnies, so come on out and have a good time! ***** Wednesday, February 5, 2003: Wooo, what a doozy of a show on Saturday at Full Circle! We had some horns MIA, but Mike Gallagher's chicken dance was in fine form and special guest Zach Crites rocked the egg shaker (as well as got kicked where the sun don't shine by Adam). Thank you to everyone who showed up, to Duck Island (my new favorite band) for playing and sharing equipment, to Scott and Full Circle Records for having us, to Erin and John for filming the show for us, and to Tom for thinking about doing the chicken dance! Extra special thanks to Erin for getting the bass amp for the band without calling us complete morons over a dozen times or so! We're all so bright, our mothers call us sons (ha!)... Anyway, there are two new shows up on the shows page, one at St. Pauls in Collingswood this Saturday and one March 8 at the Voorhees Middle School (to benefit those bunnies). We're still working, working, working on new songs, working nearly as hard as Gian in a GAP sweatshop in China! In other news, Adam really likes to eat chicken. We hope to see everybody at the show on Saturday, it's gonna be a good one! Rock! ***** Thursday, December 5, 2002: Well, DTP has another great show coming up. Yes, the time has come for the Bunny Benefit IV! Hooray! It'll be on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Oaklyn, NJ. Like the previous Bunny Benefits, this one has a killer lineup featuring No Regrets, Short Arms, and those legends of South Jersey, SGR! Please mark this day on your calanders, it's gonna be a great one! ***** Friday, November 29, 2002: The show Saturday at St. Mark's was amazing! The Break of Day, Short Arms, and No Regrets played as rockingly as usual, and everyone seemed to really get into that swing/ska sensation, the Tri-State Conspiracy, who were awesome! We had a great time, and I hope that everyone who was at the show did too. Special thanks to all the bands who played, to the NR crew (for running the whole madhouse, and for neck punches), to Short Arms (for lending us the amps), to Mr. Chini (for coming, and also for filming), to Erin (for filming the show, and more importantly for surviving the caravaan trip there), to Batche, to Grace, to Chester's friends, and to all the others who came to the show but whose names elude me at the moment, to everyone who ran around at the show, to the church for allowing the shows in the first place, to Zach Crites's goggles, to anyone we forgot, and to bunny rabbits, who not only have cute noses, but also adorable ears! No thanks whatsoever to Patrick Whalen's radiator and fuel line! We have no new shows at the moment, but hopefully some shall appear so that Mike Gallagher has an excuse to rock out! ***** Wednesday, November 20, 2002: Happy birthday! Yes, today marks four years since Drive-Thru Pharmacy played their first show, at the wonderful Cafe Oasis. *sniff* Ah memories, Dave Chu in a "chicks hate me" shirt, Roger coming straight from football, Gian wearing flannel... Anyway, don't forget, this Saturday at St Marks Church in Oaklyn, there is a great show, so come on out! It's only $3! That's less expensive than a snack at the school cafeteria! No Regrets, Short Arms, and the Tri-State Conspiracy (Swing-Ska from NY/NJ) are gonna be there, as is the magical Patrick Whalen. Who know what Pat might do? A good guess would be that he is going to be breathing, but the rest is unpredictable! Just check out the shows section, and e-mail the band if ya need directions or anything... ***** Sunday, November 17, 2002: The show tonight in Washington Township rocked! We had to bump Chester to bass, and Ray had to take his shirt off, but it still rocked! Thanks to James & Nothing From Nowhere for the show, all the other bands (Short Arms, No Regrets, Nothing From Nowhere, Dirty Larry, Burn Kate, and all the rest), to everyone who watched us, and to chocolate jello pudding cups. Come on out and see us next Saturday, November 23, when we rock out at St Marks Lutheran Church in Oaklyn, NJ with No Regrets, the Tri-State Conspiracy, Short Arms, and more! ***** October 9, 2002: The show on Saturday (Oct 5th) was a blast! Seriously, it was one of the best shows I've been to in ages, let alone actually getting to play at it! Thanks to Short Arms, Dirty Larry, the Scofflaws, and No Regrets for rocking as hard as possible. Also, thanks to Brockner for playing Swingmeister with us, to Crites for lending us the guitar and amp, to Allen, Whalen, Fil, Joe, the Pennsylvania kids, and the others nuts who came out to see us, to everyone who ran around like a bunch of idiots during the set, to No Regrets for letting us play in the first place, to Anna for taping the show for us, to Godzilla for watching over us, and, of course, to bunny rabbits, for being the adorable little nose wigglers that they are! No thanks whatsoever to Pete's teachers for giving him a lot of work or to marching band competitions on the days of shows. Also, congrats are in order to those DTPers that were playing their first show with the band: Preston, Chester, Ray, and Brian, the mad cowbeller. They did an amazing job! We don't have any shows coming up, but when we do, we should have some merchandise ready. Right now we're going to concentrate on watching as many Friday the 13th and Bruce Lee flicks that we can (too bad Bruce never took on Jason) and finishing up some of our new songs. Rok n rol! ***** September 16, 2002: DTP now has the date that we return to rock: October 5, 2002 at St Marks Lutheran Church in Oaklyn, NJ. Playing this show will be none other than the Scofflaws, formerly on Moon Ska Records, as well as our good neck punching buddies No Regrets and Dirty Larry. If you haven't seen us in a while, please come on out and throw things at Billus. If you've never seen us, why not come on out to the show and throw stuff at Billus? See the show section for more details, like directions and the time and stuff, as as for a picture of Godzilla destroying an amusement park. In other news, we have a new drummer! However, he is very secretive and wishes only to be known as "Lord Byron", although we may possibly be getting him cofused with Adam's new rabbit again. Rock! Also, new pictures from the Day Before Columbus Day show (way back October last year) and our Temple show with the Toasters (November last year) finally made it up on the site. Feel free to check them out, expecially the ones where Pat Whalen looks like he drank way too much coffee before the show. Oh, that Patrick... ***** September 1, 2002: Hey! It's September! Back to school! Back to school! Prove to Dad I am no fool! (Gosh, I miss Filthy Poor) Anyway, DTP would like to take the time to introduce some new members of the band: Abby on the keys, Preston on the trumpet, and Mike on the tenor saxamaphone. They will be rocking out and distributing free neck punches at our future band activities, so come on out and say "Hey! That hurt!" We also continue to look for a new drummer. Drummers that are not already in the band and supposed to be singing are very hard to find these days. So if you're a drummer that might want to be in DTP, or know someone who does play, then maybe you can help us solve the next unsolved mystery. Thank you, and good night. ***** August 11, 2002: DTP played their first show in several months yesterday, rocking out the backyard for Mike Block's family in Sommerdale, NJ. The band played many of the old favorites, plus a new one called "The Imp Song", and all went well. We should be playing again fairly soon, evil marching band allowing that is... ***** July 28, 2002: Good news on the DTP front. Firstly, we've officially begun practicing again. Secondly, we have a ton and a half of new songs working their way down the pipeline, so many that we hardly know what to do with them (currently, they are propping up the uneven leg of our coffee table). However, we do have some bad news. Our new drummer does not believe that he has enough time to be in the band, so we are again looking for a new drummer. If you're interested, just e-mail drivethrupharmacy@hotmail.com. Until a new drummer is found, Mike Bickerson will be doing double duty drumming and singing. ***** June 13, 2002: No news was bad news, but now we have new news. DTP hast found ourselves a new bass player and is working on a drummer (we do have a temp), so we'll be practicing again very soon! We are working on writing new songs, so we should have some new stuff when we start playing shows again. Thank you to anyone who cares!***** April 27, 2002: Sadly, not much happening, but Gian is home soon! ***** March 30, 2002: Well, I guess ewebcity is making changes, 'cause our webpage address won't work anymore. You can find the page now at http://www11.brinkster.com/dtp or (once it gets fixed) http://listen.to/dtp. Not that this information is particularly helpful, since if you don't know the new address you aren't reading this right now! ***** March 20, 2002: There's a lot of DTP news, as ewebcity has been refusing to load for several weeks. Hopefully they've got it sorted now... First off, the Bunny Benefit III scheduled for March 23 had to be canceled due to some idiots getting drunk, thereby causing the hall to be shut down for shows. We sincerely hope that all those involved get poisen ivy on extremely sensitive areas of the body, like the tounge perhaps. Also, the Cancel Out Cancer Benefit show had its venue yanked, but has been bumped to May 4 at a new spot. See the shows section for more details... Secondly, after a good run, we are sad to say that Dan Burns has left DTP. Don't worry though, you can still see him and his Mark Knoffleresque hair in bands such as the 1.9. Crew, Johnny Nintendo and the Squarewaves, and assorted bands at Sterling High School. See ya around Dan... Also leaving us is Kevin Whalen, who so nobley wore his Homer Simpson beer shirt. He, of course, also rocked out on the bass guitar. Thanks Kevin! With all of this going on, the band isn't in too good of shape right now. However, due to strict DTP regulations applying to areas other than Chris Gratton being a bum, the band is carrying on. We'll let you all know what's going on, ewebcity permitting of course... Oh yea, Gallagher has a Welcome Home Cotter shirt. That's newsworthy! ***** February 3, 2002: DTP slump may be ending, we've found a very good drummer who is gonna take a crack at the band. His name? Mike. Figures, eh? ***** January 20, 2002 (Part Dos): What the heck? Swingmeister is #14 on the MP3.com national ska charts, and none of our songs are lower than #30. People must like us, but there is no accounting for taste I guess =) ***** January 20, 2002: Ewebcity has been being evil the last few days and shutting us out of the editor. Oh well, hopefully they got that cleared up now. In news, the Bunny Benefit III is coming together nicely. To keep track, check out the shows section or The Bunny Benefit Page New pictures up for three or four shows. Enjoy! Those red buckets are sneaky buggers... ***** January 15, 2002: No news today. Just screwing with you. If you have any problems, bring them up with Bickerson. In other news, if you ever see a blue bucket make sure it's really a blue bucket and not a red bucket in disguise.***** January 13, 2002: New show in the works, the amazing Bunny Benefit III! This one promises to be just as great as the last two. It's scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at the Vet Chapter 4 in Westmont, NJ. Bands so far include Son of Alf, No Regrets, and j.a.r slated to play so far. Hopefully we'll be able to take a good chunk of the $1500+ debt that the bunnies have run up. Hooray for bunnies! ***** January 7, 2002: Many aplogies in order. Sorry to anyone who showed up on Sunday expecting DTP to play, we had many members with other obligations and had to drop in favor of the Cherry Tarts. Either that, or the Cherry Tarts locked us in Michelle's trunk, but we aren't supposed to talk about that! Also many apologies for the slothfulness of the band lately. We promise we'll make up for it in the future. Okay, it's the future enough. First off, we have fresh copies of Somebody Call Gian all made up and awaiting purchase. That's $6 for 15 songs (everything from our first two albums), you can't beat that! We also have DTP patches available for 50 cents. Should be a picture of them soon up on the page. We also are very close to having DTP work shirts, as in they are being prepared nowish. They'll be $7, which is a small price to pay for being the coolest kid on your street. You'll get a free patch with every shirt too! In actual band news, we're currently scraping together money for a new PA, which will lead to us setting up some shows again (can you say bunnies!?). We also will have a ton of new pictures up soon (as in, going to start putting them up after this gets typed)... ***** December 25, 2001: Wishing all you Flyers Fans out there a merry Christmas, happy Channukah, a quiet Ramadan, happy Kwanzaa, a happy New Year, and most of all, Happy Festivus! ***** December 2, 2001: Another week, another practice. Another new DTP song is emerging from this practice too, YAY! No name for it yet. We are also perhaps close to finding a new drummer.... *knock knock knock* ***** November 30, 2001: Bye bye George. You'll be missed... ***** Thursday, November 22, 2001: Happy Turkey Day! This is the day that we all remember how incrediably funny it was when the Adams children took over their summer camp. What a great country ***** Tuesday, November 20, 2001: Yaaaay! Today is the third aniversary of DTP's first show ever: November 20, 1998 @ Cafe Oasis with JYD, P.O. Box, & The Swingkidz. Booooy do some of us feel old. Or to put it some other ways:
* Pete was the only band member with a license, barely. Okay, so that last one really hasn't changed at all, but the rest of them make sense. Next show that we play, feel free to come up and congratulate us. We'll be the ones with walkers eating applesause. In actual "News", we've got some shows in the works including: a middle school dance, a show at a furry convention (if you don't know, don't ask), a red cross benefit, another bunny benefit show, and maybe even trips to some exotic locals such as Cleveland. Rockin! Also, Gian has finally updated his profile. Nothing too big, but you might want to visit if you're really bored.***** Sunday, November 17, 2001: Not much going on in the world of DTP at the moment other than Gerry being in Chicago (he drove there even). Worked on a new song today and resurected some oldies too. The band is still looking for a drummer, so if you are the corpse of Keith Moon, please contact the band for the job. People who are still alive are welcome to do that too.... ***** Sunday, November 11, 2001: More DTP thank yous for everyone who came out last night, expecially Mrs. Gallagher and Mr. Burns! Hooray for parents! Show went very well with Louis rocking out upon the drum set. The two remaining DTP microphones both seriously thought about not working, but changed their minds. Billus & Mike avoided stepping on any of Dan's pedals. Block didn't deafen anyone. Kevin and his amazing Homer Simpson shirt rocked out as well. Dan was his usual Dan self and Gerry was Gerry. But Mike Gallagher stole the show with his crazy Mike Gallagher antics. ROCK! Two things have come out of this show: 1) DTP & No Regrets agree that Chopping Mall was terrible and 2) Kevin Whalen is the new bass player for Drive-Thru Pharmacy. Score! Many thanks to Scott & Full Circle Records, to everyone who came out, to Mr. Lou, to Thibault for helping cart equipment, and to Chopping Mall. No thanks what-so-ever to our microphones. HOORAY FOR BUNNIES! ***** Friday, November 9, 2001: Muchos thank yous to everyone who came out last night to the show. Maybe some of you even came to see us! Haha, what funny folk we are! Anyway, the entire show was amazing! That's right, they FED us! We opened up the night with an eight song set that included a special Gian-tribute Spanish is Special, a new version of Frieza where all the lyrics managed to be sung, a Pat Whalen driven version of Surf Boys, and much more. We pretty much nailed everything too, yay! After us was Philly's own Rathskeller, who grooved the night away. Then came The Players, who made our horn section feel weak and inept while rockin' the whole place. Finally came The Toasters. What could possibly be said about the Toasters that hasn't been said a hundred times before? Got something... The Toasters got Rajeev dancing! Yes! Note: Rajeev claims his dancing was bad. Mike #1 counter-claims that everyone's dancing is bad, just look on the stage during any DTP show ever! DTP has many many people that need to be thanked for this one, so here it goes: Thank you to Ken & Kevin for their excellent rocking; to Adam Thibault for helping us get the show; to Temple University for having us; to Rathskeller, The Players, and The Toasters for tolerating us; to Rajeev, the Inzinna boys, Michelle, Diana, Mr. Burns, the dynamic duo of Pat & Adam, and everyone whose name I forgot (Mike #1 written news blurb) because I am terrible with names for coming! ***** Wednesday, October 31, 2001: Everyone have a very happy, sugar filled Springsteen Halloween! ***** Sunday, October 28, 2001: After yesterdays disheartening news blurb, things can only go up for todays. And up they do go, as Drive-Thru Pharmacy's been confirmed to open for NYC ska legends The Toasters, as well as Philly's own Rathskeller and The Players at Temple U on November 8th! Whoa! But wait, aren't we short a few members? Yes, indeed we are, but coming to rescue are the band's two new favorite people. They are the legendary and extremely pierced Ken Madden on the drums and rising-star Kevin Whalen on the bass. Special thanks and slobbery asian clarinet player kisses to Adam Thibault for his alert and proper action in helping us get the gig and to the brother of Kevin Whalen for all his dedication, hard work, invaluable help, and most importantly for avoidance a stroke in the last few weeks. MWAH! ***** Saturday, October 27, 2001: The rumors do fly about, don't they? Yes, it's true, Englebert Humperdink died in a car accident. No wait! What I meant to say is that another chunk of DTP has gone bye bye. Yes, long time guitarist and asian Eddie Tsang has left us so that he can run the family rice orchard where he will spend the rest of his days humming "Yellow Submarine". Lou has also left the fold. Most likely he is heading for the Mexican border with Dan's Big Gulp mug. Lou, if you are reading this, watch your neck. Finally, Ben "Ben" Lippincott has retired to a life of Target and 14 year old women. Good luck to all three, they will be sorely missed by Max the Wonder Dog. =( As one can guess, DTP is now in the hunt for a new drummer, a new bassist, and a new keyboard/guitarist. If your interested in the gig, send us an e-mail! We'll keep everyone updated as we sucker... err, find new members. PS: The Banana Factor has been forced to back out of the Nov. 10th show at Full Circle due to eyeball worm troubles. Taking their spot will most likely be everyone's favorite garage band Ganto Barn. ROCK! ***** Monday, October 8th, 2001: Show yesterday went well except for the fact that it was exactly two-hundred and six degrees below zero outside and a viking horde appeared. Grrrr @ weather. Thanks to the Banana Factor, the Cherry Tarts, 1.9. Crew, and Suckerpunch for playing and thanks to everyone who watched us! ***** October 4th, 2001: The day hast finally arrived. Yes, it's THE SEASON OPENER AGAINST THOSE DARN PANTHERS TONIGHT!!! Woohoo! Mandergretzky is sure to have an outstanding season this year, and Tocc is sure to end the season with two black eyes, eight less teeth, and at least twenty-five goals and 150 penalty minutes. Oh yea, free DTP show on Sunday too. Go to that! September 24, 2001: Nobody ever signs the guestbook, why aren't we loved? Anyway, show on October 7th at Dan's house, which is pretty much it right now. We have a bunch of shows that might be happening that need to be sorted out like... a) a benefit show with Jackson 170 for mid-October, b) a reschedule of the Shehan's Pub show, c) a halloween show at CCC, and a couple of others. We'll stick 'em on the shows page when and if they ever firm up. Oh yes, I HATE MARCHING BAND AND I'M NOT EVEN IN IT!!! ***** September 19, 2001: Joe Kogut's Party rocked. yes, i know we only played dave's robot army and half of swingmeister, but it still rocked. an enjoyable show was enjoyed with the help of the ever-expanding-horn-section cherry tarts, orpheus, and cyoa. the police came at 7 oclock, which is wierd because i thought that one could make noise until 8. ah well. We are starting to record our full album now and making new music. rockin. ***** Wednesday, September 12, 2001: This world is seriously screwed up. If you can, please give blood, expecially if you live in Jersey due to the closeness of us to both NYC & DC. The phone number is 1.800.GIVE.LIFE. If the phone lines are jammed or the lines too long at donation centers (Pete reported a five hour waiting line in Pittsburgh yesterday), try again later or go back tommorow or the next day because there is a severe blood shortage even with the rush of donations... ***** Sunday, September 9, 2001: DTP rocked Aunt Lora's (Mike Block's aunt) backyard last night in Sommerdale, suprisingly not incuring the wrath of any neighbors or cops. The band managed somehow to play two full sets despite not having Ed & Gerry there, including a cover of "Two Tone Army" by the Toasters, the infamous "Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Dun Song", "Surf Bots", and a special cover of "867-5309" with Block's family guest staring on vocals. Special thanks to Thibault for working the camera/helping move the equipment, to Pat Whalen for again being "Bill with neater hair", and to all of Mike's relatives for being so very nice, energetic, and fun. Also of note was the fact that Mike #4 ROCKED at his second show and that it's very hard to play Monster Farm on guitar if you can't see your strings... ***** Friday, August 31, 2001: Our shows at Sheehan's Pub fast approach. GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!!! Also, the Bunny Benefit brough in about $300 for Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue. Much much much thanks to all the bands & fans who made it a success, the bunnies appreciate it! ***** Monday, August 27, 2001: Instead of recording a four song demo, we decided to go ahead and start recording our 2nd full album. The bunny benefit was a great success, and a great thank you goes out to everyone that came and every local ska band known to man that played. Expect another benefit sometime in the future! ***** Sunday, August 12, 2001: the demo is coming along fine, and should be completed in about 2 weeks or so. Songs include new versions of Master Adventure Man, Spanish is Special, Heroes in Hawaiin Shirts, and a new song known as Monster Farm 3d. We updated the show sections with some new shows and at practice, the sacred ritual of punching-the-birthday-boy-in-the-neck-in-every-direction-at-the-same-time was performed on Ed, currently aged 19. jeebus, it hurts. ***** Wednesday, August 8, 2001: Wow, I am amazed. Ed seems to be able to travel into the future to work on the webpage and update the news. If only the rest of us were that good, then we could buy winning lottery tickets ***** Monday, August 20, 2001: Did a slight redecoration of the webpage. updated bios, shows, and other stuff. This week, a 4 song demo will be attempted for recording :) Rock and/or Roll! ***** Friday, July 27, 2001: DTP rocked the Beachcomer again last night. The highlights of the night were Pat Whalen's fill-in return on vocals (Bill was called away on a national security matter) and the epic similtanious punching of Mike Block's neck by half the band in celebration of Block's 16th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BLOCK!!! HOPE YOUR NECK IS STILL WORKING!!! HAHA!!! ***** Monday, July 23, 2001: DTP will be playing the Beachcomer for a third time on Thursday night. ROCK! ***** Saturday, July 21, 2001: Thursday night saw DTP rockin' the Beachcomer in Seaside Heights, NJ once again. Thursday night also saw the Bobby Clarke System in action, as none other than tenor saxamaphone player Mike "Mikus" McCarthy joined in. That's right, Mikus is back in action and still rockin' like there is no tommorow! He'll be back full time starting in September when he returns to school in Philly. In other news, the band is working on writing some new songs and finding/putting together a few shows. Wish us luck, we'll need it... ***** Friday, July 13, 2001: Well, yet another unannounced seat-of-the-pants DTP show is pulled off. The band played late Thursday night at open-mic night at the Beachcomer in Seaside Heights, NJ. We ran through a few songs and then wandered aimlessly, with some members not arriving home until four in the morning! We will probably be playing again next Thursday night if anyone is in the area, so feel free to drop by! ***** Thursday, July 12, 2001: Gian begins his petty revenge ***** Tuesday, July 10, 2001: Drive-Thru Pharmacy cds entitled "Somebody Call Gian: A Decade of Hits 1998-2001" are now on sale for $6. These contain the same recordings as the mp3.com cd, but don't have the annoying "MP3.com" logo plastered all over the insert and backing. If you want one, contact a band member or e-mail drivethrupharmacy@hotmail.com. Oh yea, the web page is getting fiddled with too... ***** Friday, July 6, 2001: Well, we are feeling quite smug with ourselves. On the Fouth of July, Drive-Thru Pharmacy accomplished a minor feat: proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are stark raving mad. We also played three shows in three towns! We started the day with Orpheus at the Audubon Park Fourth of July Celebration, where we poured alot of water off of our keyboard and had our stuff sitting in large puddles while we were playing. For the record, it was fairly dry when we started our set, but when we started tripping safeties on the surge strips we probably should have called it a day! Our second show took place on John Roccia's driveway in Mt. Ephraim where we succeeded in scaring a poor ol' granny (before we started to play), providing epic chase music for a "throw the kid in the pool" hunt, and having the world's first Gian solo (Gian has, of course, soloed but he has never been soloed upon). The days third show found us in the wilds of Lindenwold, playing to many a happy party goer. This show was also eventful, with the major features being Lou smacking Mike #1 in the back of the head with a manekin head and a two year old kid deciding to help Eddie out with his keyboard part in Monster Farm. Oh yea, it was also Mike Gallagher's first show...
***** Monday, June 25, 2001: The Bunny Benefit was a rousing success despite pretty bad weather. Thanks to all the people who showed up to support the hippity-hops! |
